Chives are one of the best known herbs. They are a perennial and easy in grow. Leaves can be harvest as soon as large enough and will reshoot.
Adaptable to most well-drained fertile garden soils in a sunny position.
Growing well in containers and beds, chives makes a wonderful addition to both your herb and flower garden. Both Common (Onion) Chives seeds produce beautiful pink flowers, but will grow more leaves if these flowers are pinched off as buds. These plants require very little care beyond water and a good, sunny location. As a perennial, they will come back each spring and in 3 to 4 years you may even need to divide the clumps and give to friends or continue to plant in other parts of your garden.
